Hey Jason-
Found your site from Dan Kimball's. Good stuff.

This post caught my attention for a couple reasons.

1- I lived in Bahrain for 4 years (right off the coast of Saudi) and witnessed the same thing every day. Faith was intregal to the lives of all the Muslims around me. It was inspiring.

2- It was an episode of Reservations that was done in Africa that caught my wife's attention of the great need among children there and got us talking about adoption from Africa. About one year later we adopted 2 children from Ethiopia, just this past May. I am sure Anthony is quite unaware of just how much the Spirit of God was using him :)

3 - These reminders to pray are sort of like our own liturigal reminders through the year to refocus. It is one of the reasons I love Advent (and Lent, etc).

grace and peace,
Chad

Great stuff!
It's in these moments that we are affirmed in such a tangible sense that God is, who He has told us He is.
Blessing man!

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence my fine, feathered friend. I would have thought they would have taught you that at Mason Jar U. Wait, scratch that last remark, as Jar State is apparently undefeated. Can I get a fact checker to look at that one? It doesn't sound right.

Anyway, rest assured that I have been gloating my ass off for all these wins. It has been the Colts revenge tour recently: avenged loss last year to Pats-check; avenged loss in 06 to Pittsburgh; avenged loss of undefeated season, loss on a missed 29 yard FG, and loss in playoffs to San Doggy. And let us not forget adding a little insult to injury with the poor Houston Texans.

Yep, I've been quite loud and annoying. Hopefully, you have been doing the same.

Finally, I would like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Pass this on as well to my fellow blog-commenter, "Mom," whoever that is. This "Mom" apparently thinks that Sammie is quite cute also. Almost as if she has some sort of familial relationship with the girl... Hmm. Well, I can't solve this mystery now, as I have all my mental powers devoted to Colts Football. I'll try again after they hoist the Lombardi trophy in February.

Regards,
Fartacus

Mr. Fartacus,

Why am I not surprised that you can make Advent about football. Technically, I guess we could apply your definition as the "advent of Colts football." They have re-awakened...experienced a bit of a second coming...hopefully one that will continue through the rest of the season. But, I do find it rather lame that you choose to wait until the Colts have won 4 games in a row to start the trash talking. Don't get me wrong...I'm a Colts fan. I just think we tend to only start smack talking when things are looking up.

By the way, are you still in the witness protection program?

Timm,
Thanks for sharing. That is quite interesting. In terms of overall dollars given, we're number one. In terms of the percentage of the Gross National Income, though, we are 23rd. Overall, I think we are a giving nation. But, in terms of being responsible with what we've been blessed with, I still find myself asking questions...

While it is true that America was blessed with 20% of the world's wealth,it is also true that America has lead the world in charitable giving. Check out, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_charitable_countries
