Call & Response: Blessings & Curses

This Sunday is typically known as “Thanksgiving Sunday” at our church. Culturally, I guess that makes sense due to the fact that Thanksgiving will land on the following Thursday. After the service, we will have a time of food and fellowship with our Thanksgiving meal. And, most people will come to church expecting an uplifting message about being thankful. Of course, when you put things in my hands…you just might get a little bit of a surprise. Sure, we’ll talk about being thankful. But, I’ll also talk about how being thankful just isn’t enough. When we’ve been blessed, being thankful for the blessing is important…but it’s not the end of the story. We are blessed in order to bless others.

So, this Sunday’s message will be “Call & Response: Blessings & Curses.” We’ll talk about how God places a call on our lives and waits for and watches our response. We’ll talk about how our blessings can turn into more blessings or how they can end up turning into curses. The Scriptural focus of the message will come from passages in Ezekiel and Matthew.

As I’ve been preparing for this message, I’ve come across a lot of material that has confirmed a lot of what I’ll be sharing. Throughout the week, I’ll share some of the thoughts that will help shape my message. Some of what I’ll share might even make its way into the message. So, if I use some of what I post in my message, don’t tune out. Think about it…meditate on it…and let it spur on an appropriate response.

It will be an exciting day. If you’re in the Muncie area, we’d love to have you worship with us at 8 or 10am at Center Chapel. We’ll have a meal following the 10am service. Coffee is always available in the cafe!
