John and Johnny
Right now, I’m working on a message that I’ll be giving at a youth lock-in on Friday night. I was really sort of struggling with what to talk about…Then, last night I was watching a special on Johnny Cash. Now, I want to make a disclaimer here…I’m not one of those “new” Johnny Cash fans…that have suddenly found “the man in black” to be “cool.” I’ve been listening to Cash for a long, long time. Anyway, back to the matter at hand.
As I was watching this special on Johnny Cash, he started talking about being in a coma and seeing the light. He said he was drawn to the light and that he knew the light was the true light…the way to the better life that exists after this one. He said he didn’t want to come back from the light…But, he did. And, he said he couldn’t wait to go back to the light.
Well, that sort of inspired me. So, on Friday night, I’m going to talk about John 1…it’s about the Word becoming flesh. And, the verbage talks a lot about the “light.” We’ll see where it goes!
